Job Description for Assistant Designer & Merchandiser

Reporting to the Product Development & Operations Manager, the Assistant Designer & Merchandiser will help to develop production drawings and assist in the preparation of all documents related to merchandising and business-related matters to maximize customer satisfaction and sales in the uniforms business.

As a Management Trainee (Retail), my role involves the following roles and responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Creating or visualizing an idea and producing a design by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD).

  • Actively keeping up to date with emerging fashion trends relating to fabrics, colours and styling.

  • Planning and developing ranges/collections.

  • Working closely with other colleagues and to liaise with customers to develop products to meet their expectations.

  • Understanding design from a technical perspective; producing patterns and technical specifications.

  • Adapting existing designs for mass production.

  • Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations on products/services to the management team and customers.

  • Assist in the preparation of time action plan, fabric usage, quotation, purchase order, packing list, delivery order and invoice.

  • Assist in the preparation of all documents related to freight documentation.

  • Monitor and manage the inventory of stock.

  • Overseeing pre-production samples to meet customers’ expectation.

  • Work closely with the management team to maximize profits. - Source for reliable suppliers for fabric, accessories, etc. - Support general marketing activities.

Requirements

  • Candidate should possess at least a Diploma in any related discipline;

  • Strong interest in apparel / fashion industry;

  • Customer service oriented;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint and Word;

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Display positivity and willingness to learn;

  • Team player works well independently and within the team;

  • Results oriented, focused, with a strong desire to succeed;

  • Able to join within short notice;
